I've mentioned before that Mr. Waterfall and I love games and often have game night with our friends, so we knew we wanted to incorporate at least one game during dinner. We quickly settled on the shoelywed game because it's quick, cute, and would allow our guests to get a fun glimpse into the Waterfalls as a couple (spoiler alert: we kick ass ;)). As a bonus, the shoelywed game isn't really done in our neck of the woods, so our guests thought it was very cool and different.
If you're not familiar with the game, it's really quite simple: Place two chairs back to back and have the bride and groom sit in the chairs. Each should remove their shoes. The bride should take one of the groom's shoes in one hand and her other shoe in the other hand. The groom should do the same with one of the bride's shoes and one of his shoes. The MC or DJ will then ask questions of the couple and the couple should raise the shoe appropriate to answer the question.
We pitched it to our DJ and he loved the idea as a great way to entertain our guests during dinner. Since we didn't want to know the questions beforehand, we told him that he could ask our family and bridal party, since they know us best. The only guideline we gave was "Nothing too raunchy" since both of our grandmothers were in attendance, as well as a few little ones.
Here are some of our favorite questions were:
Q. Who`s the better kisser? / A. Each other!
Q. "Who said I love you first?" A. Mr. Waterfall!Q. Who has the wackier family? A. Mrs. Waterfall (by a landslide)
Our photographers climbed up to the mezzanine to get some really cool reaction shots. I love this photo! Everyone in the picture is having such a blast!
Our videographer also captured the whole thing, so here it is, for your viewing pleasure.
Are you playing the shoelywed game at your wedding? Had you ever heard of it before?
